About these terms
s4.codes is a software learning site run by Asfar Ali, trading as s4.codes, a sole proprietor based in Pakistan. These Terms apply to the site and to its articles, courses, accounts and community features.
By accessing the site, creating an account, enrolling in a course or completing checkout, you agree to these Terms. The course page links to them next to the buy button, and each purchase records the version of the Terms in force when you bought. The Privacy Policy explains how the site handles personal information.
Accounts and sign-in
Create one learner account with GitHub or a password-free email sign-in link. You can link both methods to the same account from account settings. Each linked method accesses the same learner account.
Course enrollments belong to the account used to enroll or purchase. One course purchase is for one learner on one account; do not share account access. If you cannot find an enrollment, contact hello@s4.codes.
Sign-in is required to enroll in a course, buy a paid course, submit a course review, comment on an article, like an article or manage email preferences. Lessons marked as free previews can be watched without an account or purchase.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age. To buy a course you must be 18 or older, or have permission from a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms for you.
Courses and access
A free course can be enrolled in after you sign in, with no payment. Paid course access is added to your account after Paddle confirms payment.
A paid course purchase gives lifetime access to that course for as long as it remains available on s4.codes. Access has no subscription renewal or scheduled expiry and stays with the account used for the purchase.
If a course is retired, it stops being sold but stays available to everyone who bought it.
If s4.codes itself closes, account holders get at least 90 days' notice by email before course access ends, and every course purchase made in the 6 months before that notice is refunded in full.
Payments and prices
Paid courses are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Prices are in US dollars and are currently the same in every country. The price includes any sales tax or VAT that applies: Paddle works it out from your location and shows the final amount in checkout before you pay. Your bank or card provider may charge its own currency-conversion fees.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle is the seller of the course to you: it takes the payment, calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT that applies, and sends the invoice and receipt. Paddle provides customer service for payment and billing inquiries and handles returns; a refund request for an s4.codes course starts in your account, as described under Refunds below. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms.
Payment takes place in Paddle's checkout, which opens on the course page. You can enter a discount code there. Discount codes are created and managed in Paddle; their eligibility, value and availability depend on the code and the details shown in checkout.
Review the final amount and currency shown by Paddle before you confirm payment. A paid enrollment is created after Paddle reports a completed payment.
Refunds and access changes
Every paid course comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Ask within 14 days of purchase and you get a full refund, with no reason needed. Request it from the Purchases section of your account or by emailing hello@s4.codes. The site owner approves every request made within the window, usually within 2 business days, and Paddle then processes the refund as the Merchant of Record. The Refund Policy describes the process.
The refund request flow applies to paid course purchases. A free enrollment or an administrator-granted enrollment is not a purchase and cannot be refunded through that flow.
When Paddle reports an approved full refund or a chargeback, the site automatically revokes the matching course enrollment. A partial refund does not automatically remove course access. The site administrator can also grant an enrollment, or remove access as described under Suspending access.
Video playback
Course videos are streamed through Mux. The site checks that you are signed in to an account with active course access before it issues a signed playback link for a paid lesson. Those links expire; the player can request playback access again when needed.
Lessons marked as free previews use public playback and do not require course enrollment. The site provides video streaming in its player; it does not currently offer course video downloads.
Who owns what
The courses, videos, articles and other material on s4.codes belong to Asfar Ali. Buying a course gives you a personal, non-transferable license to watch it for your own learning. Do not download, record, re-upload, share, resell or publicly show course videos, or let others watch through your account.
Code examples in lessons and articles are yours to use, change and ship in your own projects, including commercial ones.
You keep ownership of the reviews and comments you post. By posting one, you give s4.codes a free, worldwide permission to show it on the site, and to quote a course review with your display name when promoting s4.codes.
Reviews, comments and likes
A learner with active course access may post one review per course, with a rating from one to five stars and optional written feedback. You can edit your own review while you remain enrolled. Course reviews are public; the site administrator can feature or hide them.
You must sign in to comment on an article. Comments are public unless hidden by the site administrator. You can edit or delete your own comment.
You can like or unlike an article while signed in. Each account can have one like per article. Like counts are public, and your liked articles appear in your account.
The site administrator hides reviews and comments that are spam, harassment or hate, unlawful, advertising, or that share someone else's personal details. A review is never hidden because it is negative or critical.
Suspending access
The site owner may suspend an account or remove course access for sharing an account or course videos, payment fraud or chargeback abuse, or abusive posts. You will get an email explaining the reason.
To appeal, reply to that email or write to hello@s4.codes within 30 days, and the site owner will review the decision. If access to a paid course is removed although you did not break these Terms, you get a full refund for that course.
Email preferences
Course-launch announcements are enabled by default. New-article announcements are off until you opt in. These preferences are separate, and you can change them in your account settings.
Each announcement email includes a link to unsubscribe from that category. You can also change the setting in your account. Unsubscribing from one category does not change the other category.
Email sign-in links, welcome messages and purchase receipts are service emails. The two announcement preferences do not control those messages.
Changes to these terms
When these Terms change, the Last updated date at the top of this page changes with them. Account holders get an email at least 14 days before a significant change takes effect.
A change never removes access to a course you have already bought.
Warranties and liability
Courses and articles are provided as they are, for learning. s4.codes works to keep them accurate and the site available, but does not promise that the material is free of errors, that the site is always available, or that learning from it leads to a job, a promotion or any other particular result.
The total liability of s4.codes to you for any claim about the site or a course is limited to the amount you paid s4.codes in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded, such as liability for fraud, and nothing in them removes your rights as a consumer.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
If you buy as a consumer, you keep any protection that the consumer law of your country of residence gives you and that an agreement cannot remove. Before taking a dispute further, please email hello@s4.codes so the problem can be resolved directly.
